Vision:

The Department of Physical Education provides Sport and recreational activities to students, establishing discipline, values of accountability and responsibility, teaching goal setting and instilling in students the ability to dream and go out and achieve their goals.

Mission:

Our mission is to run a consistent and sustainable sports development program providing students with opportunities to participate in recreational and competitive sporting activities while contributing to the goals of the students.

About the Department:

The Department of Physical Education in Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College was initiated in the Year 1957 with Mr. M. Paramaraj as the Director of Physical Education between 1957 and 1979. It was further headed by Mr. R. Maheshwaran from 1979 to 2011. Currently the Department of Physical Education is headed by Dr. B. Akbar Ali from 24th March 2014.

The Department of Physical Education has seen a vulnerable achievement attained presently.

With Ms. S. Vijipriya as the Asst. Director of Physical Education and Mr. A. Moosha Mohamed as the Games Marker.

The Department of Physical Education is facilitated by the U.G.C fund and Management with a grandeur Indoor Stadium, Sports Pavilion and a Sports Gallery of 1000 Spectators capacity.

Apart from distinct facilities for Sportsman and Students the college comprises the following:

Sports Quota Seats:

The College Provides Sports Quota Seats exclusively for deserving Sportsman every year.

Coaching Camp:

Coaching camps are organised for Men teams in Football, Basket Ball, Ball Badminton, Badminton, Cricket, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom and Athletics. For Women Teams in Ball Badminton, Badminton, Volleyball, Throw ball, Tennikoit, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom and Athletics. General Fitness training and game training are regularly given for Men and Women teams from 3pm to 6pm every day.

Selection Trials:

Selection trails are conducted for Men and Women teams based on individual game skills.

Women Students in Sports:

Milestones at Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College with a history of 60years of educating the students in and around rural areas of Uthamapalayam, Cumbum and Chinamanoor has around 1500 Women Students out of the total strength of 2500. In the history of HKRH College only in the Department of Physical Education took the challenge of including Women Students to the Sports field to achieve and enlighten the Women students in the field of Sports. Today more than 300 Women Students participate in Madurai Kamaraj University Zone-C and Inter Zone Tournament and have also been successful in various events.

Facebook facilities for Sports Students:

As an initiative to benefit of Students and Colleagues started a Facebook Account in the Name of Sports-Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College where they can get to know the day-to-day Sports events, Students Achievements, Sports Photos, Sports facilities are available in the Department of Physical Education.

Sports Students Alumni:

Added to this to encourage the oneness that Sports can bring the Department of Physical Education formed the Sports Alumni Association of Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College were a neat record of the passed-out Students is updated and maintained. Every year the Sports Alumni Association also conducts a get-together before the Annual Sports Day is held.
